Armenia for Gulf, Iraq, and Arab Market-Oriented Businesses
Armenia's trade with the Gulf and Iraq is real but concentrated: the UAE and Iraq are far ahead of Qatar, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. The tools to use are the EAEU–UAE agreement, visa-free entry for GCC citizens and Armenian government channels, not assumptions about "Arab markets" as one block.

What is the status of the UAE agreement?
The UAE–EAEU Economic Partnership Agreement was signed in Minsk on 27 June 2025. Armenia's National Assembly ratified it on 25 March 2026, and the Deputy Minister of Economy said 217 of the 270 goods Armenia exports to the UAE would receive preferential treatment, including fresh fruit, honey, aluminium products, medical devices and electronic equipment. TASS reported an EEC statement that it would enter into force on 6 October 2026, and a WAM report of the same day says it takes effect. The UAE says it covers more than 86% of tariff lines. Confirm the exact date on an official EEC or UAE source.
A separate Armenia–UAE Trade in Services and Investment Agreement was signed in Abu Dhabi in February 2026, according to the UAE embassy in Yerevan.
Who can come to Armenia without a visa?
Citizens of the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman can enter visa-free for up to 180 days in a year, and so can GCC residence-card holders with a physical card valid for at least six months. Khaleej Times reports the regime was extended to 1 July 2027; the Armenian embassy in Kuwait cites Government Decision No. 610-N of 22 May 2025 for the current rules. Iraq has a visa agreement for diplomatic and service passports only.
How big is trade with each market?
- Iraq: Armenian exports were USD 246.2 million in 2024 and USD 180.6 million in 2023; in January–October 2025 they were USD 275.7 million, up 45.9% (ARKA, citing the Statistical Committee).
- Qatar: USD 10.93 million in 2024, up from USD 5.66 million.
- Kuwait: USD 1.56 million in 2024.
- Saudi Arabia: USD 0.96 million in 2024, against imports of USD 2.96 million.
The Armenian foreign ministry lists agreements with Qatar and Kuwait on double taxation, investment protection and air communication, and with Iraq on investment protection and economic cooperation. On 2 June 2026 two deputy ministers of economy met the UAE, Kuwaiti, Qatari and Iraqi ambassadors to discuss food industries, agriculture, logistics and trade.
What should an Armenian or Iranian supplier do first?
Pick one market and one product. Look at the tariff line, the standards (including halal where relevant) and the payment route, and test with a small shipment. Iraq is the only market in this group where Armenian exports are already in the hundreds of millions of dollars.
